“I enjoyed everything about this tapas tour. The food we ate felt very authentic and the tapas bars we visited had a great local atmosphere. Don’t think I would have tried these places if it weren’t for being on this tour.”

Tapar (verb) – to cover. Tapa (noun) - lid / cover. Tapas (cuisine) – nice
The origin of the term tapas goes back a few hundred years to a Spanish King who was so dismayed by the level of public drunkenness, he decreed that all alcohol must be served with food. From then on, a glass of wine was served with a slice of bread placed over the top of the glass like a lid – ie. a tapa. Over the years, the tapas became more sophisticated and more varied until, today, it is possibly the most popular form of eating in Spain.
